How to Add Multiple Links to Your Instagram Bio (Up to 5, 2026)
Updated September 29, 2026 · 6 min read
Add up to 5 links to your Instagram bio: Profile, Edit profile, Links, Add external link. App steps, link order, and fixes when a link is not showing.
Quick answer: To add a link to your Instagram bio, open the Instagram app, go to your profile, tap Edit profile, tap Links, then tap Add external link (some versions just say Add link). Paste the full URL, give it a short title and tap Done. As of 2026 every account (personal, creator or business) can add up to 5 links for free, but your profile only shows the first one, followed by a count of the others. Links can only be added or edited in the mobile app, not on instagram.com. If you need more than 5 links, or one URL you can reuse on every platform, put a link-in-bio page in the first slot.
How do I add a link to my Instagram bio?
- Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android phone and tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links.
- Tap Add external link. On some versions this reads Add link, or shows as a plus icon.
- Paste the full URL, starting with https://, so Instagram reads it as a link and not as text.
- Add a title, such as "Shop" or "Book a call". The title labels the link in your link list.
- Tap Done (or the check mark). Go back to your profile and tap the link once to make sure it opens the right page.
Repeat steps 4 to 7 for up to five links. Labels shift between app updates, but the stable path is Profile, then Edit profile, then Links. To delete one, tap it there and choose Remove link.
Can I add a link to my Instagram bio on desktop?
Not as of 2026. On instagram.com you can change your name and bio text, but the links section says editing links is only available on mobile. Copy the URL on your computer, send it to your phone, and paste it in the app. Links added in the app show on your profile everywhere, including in a browser.
How many links can you have in your Instagram bio?
Five, for free. Instagram raised the limit from one to five in April 2023, which is why older guides still mention a single website field.
There is now a paid way past it. Meta One, Meta's 2026 subscription, includes a link page on its creator and business plans: up to 20 links with titles and images, and its own shareable URL. Meta lists the Essential plan from $14.99 a month in the US, and pricing and availability vary by region and account. Clickable links in regular posts and Reels are also a Meta One feature, on the higher Advanced tier. See how to put a link in an Instagram post for the free options.
Which link shows first, and how do the others appear?
Your profile shows the first link in your list, right under your bio, with a note that there are more (for example "and 3 others"). Visitors have to tap it to open a list of all your links, each with its title. Links open inside Instagram's in-app browser. In practice, most taps go to that first link, so it should be the one you care about most.
How do I reorder links in my Instagram bio?
- Go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Links.
- Tap the three-dot menu and choose Reorder links.
- Press and hold a link, drag it into the position you want, and tap Done.
If you do not see a reorder option on your app version, remove the links and add them back in the order you want them to appear.
Can personal accounts add links, or only business accounts?
All accounts can. Personal, creator and business accounts get the same five links, and you do not need a minimum number of followers. No professional account needed.
How do I add my Facebook or Threads profile to Instagram?
Facebook: in Edit profile, then Links, there is a separate Add Facebook link option. It connects your accounts through Meta's Accounts Center and shows your Facebook profile with a Facebook icon. It sits in the same list as your other links, so plan on it using one of your five slots.
Threads: you usually do not need a link slot. If you have a Threads profile, Instagram can show a Threads badge under your name that takes visitors straight there. Turn it on or off in Edit profile with the Show Threads badge toggle.
Why is my Instagram bio link not clickable or not showing?
- Typed into the bio text. A URL written in the bio box stays plain text. Only links added through Edit profile, then Links, are clickable. Move it there.
- Missing https:// or a typo. Edit the link, paste the full address and test it in a browser first.
- Link flagged by Instagram. Instagram scans links and can block or remove ones it treats as spam or unsafe, including some shortened URLs. Use the full destination URL instead.
- Account restrictions. Spam-like activity, such as mass following or automated tools, can limit what your account can do. Check Account status in your settings and stop the activity.
- Outdated app. Update Instagram from the App Store or Google Play, then check again.
- Cached or edit view. Force close the app, reopen it, and view your profile from another account to see what visitors see.
- Trying on desktop. Links cannot be edited on instagram.com. Use the app.

Do links in your Instagram bio hurt reach?
No. Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in July 2025 that saying "link in bio" in a post does not reduce its reach, and there is no evidence that having links on your profile affects how often your posts are shown. Weak posts, not links, are the usual cause of low reach. For time-sensitive links, a Story link sticker works well too: here is how to add a link to an Instagram Story.
When are 5 native links enough?
Instagram's own links are fine if you have a small, fixed set of destinations, you only need them on Instagram, and you do not need click data. Plenty of accounts never need more.
A link-in-bio page is the better fit if you have more than five destinations, want visitors to see every option at once instead of one link and a count, want to know which links get clicked, or use the same links on TikTok, Threads, YouTube and X. It also saves time when links change often, because you edit one page instead of every profile.

Why one link-in-bio URL belongs in your first slot
The first link on your Instagram profile is the one people actually tap, so make it count. If that slot points to a lit.bio page, it can hold your shop, newsletter, latest video, booking page and other social profiles, up to 10 links on the free plan, with 7-day click analytics so you can see what people care about. There are no ads, every theme is free, and there is no fee on links to your own shop or products. Pro is $9 a month or $49 once if you later want unlimited links, a booking calendar, email capture or tips. Coming from Linktree? The one-click importer moves your links over.
The same URL works in your TikTok, Threads and X bios, so you change a link once instead of everywhere. Set it up in a couple of minutes, paste the URL into Edit profile, then Links, and move it to the top. Start free.
